Join Sam - a.k.a. my partner in crime - and me in this episode of Experiencing UX as we talk about burnout, not taking a traditional educational path to learn a new field, and what to expect when you decide to pivot your career.
But why interview Sam though?
About Sam
Samuel Benitah-Bouchard is a seasoned cyber security professional with a strong foundation in backend web development. He thrives on the dynamic intersection of offensive security and secure coding practices.
And he's also my newly-minted husband.
Throughout our 7-year relationship, I saw him go from a developer to leaping into security by moving provinces to follow his passion, only to recently find his perfect fit in his current Red Team role.
Sam's story of persistence and confidence in his pivots always inspired me to chase after my own curiosity and passion.
That is why I wanted to have an intentional conversation with him about how he successfully landed his dream job.
I also wanted to ask him his take on the pros and cons of going back to school after joining the workforce as well as use him as a sounding board for my own personal updates.
Because what's the point of any conversation with your significant other if you're not going to just make it about yourself?
Some Key Takeaways of the Episode
-There is more than one way to be a student.
-Learn the foundation of your chosen field and seek out varying sources of truth to know where the best place to start is.
-That following your curiosity and keeping that spark alive is what matters more than if you choose to steer your career in that new direction for the rest of your life.
And much more!
